Kitchener/Waterloo Studio Portrait Session with Clara

I’ve talked a bit about my studio and how it truly is my own personal creative playground and this session is a beautiful example of this. It’s 2200sq ft of endless possibilities! My sessions with this family have been pretty consistent over the past few years, and my time with this little firecracker is always the best! She is so smart and sharp as a whip. I think one of our first photo shoots celebrated her love and passion for dinosaurs!

Since then we have done a few different themed sessions, but this most recent one was just so pretty! I love working with this family for a few reasons… They are just such loving, caring beautiful souls inside and out, but they also trust me and are up for all kinds of fun ideas. This session was a “just-because” portrait session, celebrating who she authentically is. I love it when photography isn’t always reserved exclusively for special occasions. It’s fun documenting our special ones at any stage of life.

A couple times a year, I like to splurge and stock the studio with new backdrops for all kinds of sessions ranging from Cake Smashes, to portraits, Mother’s Day or Family sessions etc. Variety is the spice of life, and having an excellent variety in my studio gives me clients a ton of different options. Admittedly, buying new backdrops is a bit of an addiction. lol

Anyhoo, I had picked up this pretty set and matching cobblestone flooring and was just itching to use it. I love it so much and am thrilled with how it came out. Mum always has the prettiest collection of dresses, seemingly all perfect for every kind of session we do. What I love about this set is not only how pretty it is, but how it’s such a versatile set that can be used for all kinds of different sessions!

This little darling is SO much fun to photograph!! She is so animated and expressive and she makes it a total dream to capture her true colourful personality. We just put her in front of the camera and let her have fun. Sometimes I joke that my camera could be on a tripod and the photos would just take themselves. lol She always makes it so easy!

Here is a sampling of some of my favourite images from my time with this little superstar.
